Clinics
Chest Clinic
The chest clinic is run on Monday afternoons and on Thursday mornings. This is run by Sister McAlinden and an appointment should be made.
Diabetic Clinic
Sister Graham and Sister Hopkins run this clinic on Wednesday afternoons. The clinic is run in conjunction with one of the doctors and an appointment is necessary.
Child Health Clinic
Child Health Clinics are held by the health visitors. More information
is available from the surgery or from your health visitor.
Antenatal Services
These are held at the practice at times to suit patients. All of the doctors are qualified to look after you during pregnancy and childbirth. Most antenatal care will be provided by the doctors or midwives. As far as possible your antenatal care will be provided by the same doctor. You should make a double appointment with your doctor as soon as you think you may be pregnant.
Immunisation Clinic
These are held on Wednesday mornings and Friday afternoons by the practice nurses. Appointments will be sent to mothers when their children are due for vaccinations.
We strongly recommend that all children have the necessary pre-school immunisations in order to protect them from preventable diseases. These immunisations, together with a full range of developmental services for the children, are available at the surgery.
Coronary Vascular Disease Clinics
CVD clinics are held on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. Patients with coronary heart disease are invited to these clinics to review and monitor their condition.
Family Planning (including emergency contraception)
Family planning services are available throughout normal surgery hours. Initial appointments should be made with one of the partners, but subsequent pill checks etc may be carried out by one of the practice nurses, by appointment. We are able to offer a full range of contraceptive services to our own patients and others who are not registered with this practice. We are a young person-friendly practice.
Post-coital contraception ("morning after pill") is available from our practice nursing team or can be obtained from community pharmacies.
Services For Women
Cervical smears are recommended at regular intervals. A computerised recall system is in operation and when called you should make an appointment with one of our practice nurses. In addition, a three-yearly countrywide breast screening service is in operation for women aged 50-65.
Minor Surgery
A limited range of minor surgery is performed under local anaesthetic by some of the doctors and is carried out by arrangement with your own doctor.
Alcohol Health Service Checks
Claire Kendrick, Alcohol Health Worker from IMPACT Alcohol & Addictions Service provides information, support and advice on low risk drinking. Please ask at the surgery for a referral or contact Claire direct - claire@impactaas.co.uk or telephone 07541 479950.
Helping To Keep You Healthy
Please ask for details if you wish to receive information about the help we can give you to improve your lifestyle by stopping smoking, improving your diet, increasing your fitness etc.
Support For Carers
Advice and support is available within the practice for anyone involved in caring for a relative at home.
Periodic Health Checks
Patients who have not been seen within three years and who are aged between 16 and 75 may request a consultation with a health professional during surgery hours. Where a consultation is provided for patients under this arrangement, the doctor will, in the course of that consultation, make such enquiries and undertake such examinations as appear to be appropriate in the circumstances.
Patients aged 75 years and over who have not been seen within the previous 12 months may also request a consultation with a health professional during surgery hours. For patients aged 75 years and over a consultation under this arrangement will take place at the home of the patient where the doctor considers it would be inappropriate, owing to the patient's medical condition, for them to attend the practice premises.
